Lin Jian: Regarding the specific reason for Minister Han Jun’s postponement of the visit to Japan, it is recommended to consult the relevant authorities. China maintains an open attitude toward contacts at all levels between China and Japan. If Japan sincerely wants to engage with China, it should take concrete actions, fully adhere to the One-China Principle, safeguard the political foundation of China-Japan relations, and implement the spirit of the four China-Japan political documents and the comprehensive promotion of the China-Japan strategic mutually beneficial relationship, rather than saying one thing and doing another.

Regarding the matter you mentioned about Lin Chia-lung’s visit to Japan, I want to emphasize again that Japan condoning Lin Chia-lung’s so-called “private” visit provides a stage for Taiwanese separatists to carry out anti-China activities. This seriously violates the basic norms of international relations and the principles of the four China-Japan political documents, sending a seriously wrong signal. We urge Japan to deeply reflect on history, draw lessons from it, exercise caution in handling the Taiwan issue, refrain from harming China’s sovereignty in any form, and avoid sending any wrong signal to Taiwanese separatists.
