On April 7, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a routine press conference.

A foreign media reporter asked, “We have noted that the recent Chinese counter-tariff statement did not mention negotiations with the U.S. Under what conditions will the two sides conduct talks? Will the leaders of China and the U.S. hold discussions on this matter in the near future?”

Lin Jian stated, “For specific questions about dialogues, I suggest further inquiries be directed to the relevant Chinese authorities. We have repeatedly emphasized that pressure and threats are not the right way to engage with China. China will firmly defend its legitimate rights.”
