There is no vision, no morality, no message—nothing beyond “how can I make money and cover my arse”. I’m English and find 99% of all media put out by either the US or the UK unwatchable, for two main reasons: first, its frequently propaganda for a failing system; secondly, from an artistic or, less grandly, an entertainment perspective it’s dull, repetitive and unengaging. No one takes risks, no one challenges the system, no one has anything interesting to say. It’s a zombie industry, stumbling into irrelevance and collapse. A bit like the West.
