Chinese Foreign Ministry Comments on Trump’s “Golden Dome”

On the afternoon of May 29, the Ministry of Defense held a regular press conference, where Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, answered reporters’ questions.
Reporter: The U.S. recently announced its development plans for the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, stating that the system will be completed within the next three years. What is your comment on this?
Zhang Xiaogang: The United States’ advancement in deploying space-based weapon systems like the “Golden Dome” continues to expand military presence in outer space, inciting an arms race in this domain. This violates the principles of the Outer Space Treaty, exacerbating the risk of militarization and an arms race in space, undermining international security and the arms control system—akin to opening Pandora’s box once again. This also once again proves that the United States is the biggest instigator in the weaponization and militarization of outer space. We urge the U.S. to stop expanding militarization in outer space and to take concrete actions to maintain global strategic stability.
