China's Overseas Community Steps in For Venezuela
On June 24th, Venezuela’s northern coast was hit by two powerful earthquakes — both above magnitude 7, striking less than a minute apart. The impact was severe, with heavy casualties and widespread damage. There have been at least 1943 casualties with more than 10,000 people injured and thens of thousands more people struggling amidst the damages.

China’s embassy in Venezuela confirmed that as of July 2nd, nine Chinese nationals had been killed.
In the middle of the chaos, the Chinese community there moved fast.
By the afternoon of June 29th, organizations like the Venezuela Federation of Overseas Chinese had already organized nearly 1,700 tons of relief supplies — water, food, diapers, milk, basic necessities. According to the embassy, tens of thousands of affected families have been reached.

Chinese companies operating locally also stepped in. As of June 29th, they had donated over 115 tons of supplies, including medicine and small construction equipment. Several engineering firms sent cranes, excavators, and their own crews directly to disaster sites. Two cranes are already in operation, with more equipment and supplies arriving in batches in early July.
This wasn’t symbolic — it was boots on the ground global South solidarity.
