The Government of Venezuela thanked this Sunday the position of China, Namibia, Ghana, Malaysia, and many other countries against US attacks on Venezuelan territory and the kidnapping of constitutional president Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

In messages posted on his Telegram account, Foreign Minister Yván Gil thanked China for its “firm stance.” China urged the U.S. to release Maduro and, according to the Venezuelan official, “to stop attempts to subvert order in Venezuela.”

He also acknowledged Namibia’s pronouncement, which, according to Gil, condemned the aggression against Venezuelan sovereignty and what he described as the “kidnapping” of Maduro.

He also thanked Ghana for its “strong support” against attacks in the South American country, “the kidnapping” of the president, and “the unilateral use of force against a sovereign nation.”

He also highlighted the message from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who, according to the Foreign Minister, condemned “the desecration of Venezuela’s sovereignty” and described it as “a violation of international law and the illicit use of force against a sovereign nation.”

Gil reported that he had a conversation with Edouard Bizimana, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burundi.

“Burundi has expressed its alignment with the position of the African Union, which has unanimously rejected the heinous act perpetrated by the United States,” he said.

In addition, other many countries have expressed their rejection to the US imperialist attacks. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Spain issued a joint statement condemning unilateral military actions in Venezuela as a violation of international law and expressing their concern in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

The communiqué condemns actions that violate fundamental principles such as the prohibition of the use of force and respect for sovereignty, warning that they constitute a dangerous precedent for peace and regional security, putting at risk the civilian population.

The central message calls for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Venezuela through dialogue, negotiation and respect for the will of the Venezuelan people, rejecting any external interference and reaffirming that only an inclusive political process led by the Venezuelans can lead to a democratic and sustainable solution.
